Level 1 Ayurveda Foundation Program & Certification Course w/ James Bailey
The Ayurveda Wellness Counselor Program (AWCP) is an Ayurveda wellness education program that provides Ayurvedic wellness assessment and management skills from the Swasthavritta tradition. In our modern communities, yoga teachers hold the highest mantle of health, vitality and consciousness. Students, friends and family come to us for advice in matters of diet, lifestyle, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing. Without practical assessment skills, the advice given is more often trending (fad) information or practices the teacher personally employs for her own wellness, than genuinely skilled support useful to the individual.
The objective of the Ayurveda Wellness Counselor Program, or AWCP, is to provide the highest quality education available for those seeking to integrate a living Ayurveda into their lives, and for those seeking the required professional training to practice as an Ayurveda Wellness Counselor.
Though anyone can take the AWCP trainings, the AWCP is unique in that it provides yoga teachers skills in the classroom as well as a secondary revenue stream outside the classroom. Teachers can give more accurately informed advice, guided by the wisdom of yoga and Ayurveda. Practitioners will be able to establish themselves in the community as Ayurvedic Wellness Counselors with all of the skills and capacities of any non-clinical Ayurvedic practitioner.
Skills Taught Include:
- Constitutional (prakriti) and conditional (vikriti) dosha assessment
- ayurvedic nutritional therapy
- cleanse management
- Ayurvedic herbology
- oil therapies
- lifestyle counseling
- pulse and tongue analysis
- tissue analysis
- subtle therapies
- ayurveda in asana practice
- client rapport
- ayurveda psychology
- business management
At its essence, Ayurveda is a wellness system. Historically, all yogis understood it’s principles and logic. Krishnamacharya had a deep knowledge of ayurveda. Ideally, yoga teachers should know what he knew when he gave such unique teachings to BKS Iyengar (therapeutic structural alignment emphasis) and to Patabi Jois (Asthanga Vinyasa). Ayurveda had a huge impact on how those teachings were informed.
